Tiny modification showing total kills
« on: May 08, 2010, 07:19:24 am »
I know I've picked the worst possible spots, but here...

A tiny column showing total kills per team would be nice.

The question is WHY? How would this be helpful? A team wins for scores and not for frags if the gamemode is not TM and there you can already see the teamscore.

It shows the efficiency of your team. For instance, if the cap result is even, you check the frags and see who wasted more :)

The F1 menu for current beta version looks like this:

It's not THAT pointless, it could even be scripted if there was a possibility to make it work for all resolutions.

It's not pointless at all, it's not even hard to script, just adding another column below. I bet it's a few lines work. Don't see why you're so against it.

How many times can you state your opinion in one topic? Honestly man think a bit before posting, pretty much every topic is full of your useless litter.

As for the topic, it's not very difficult to count the kills.

So I was asked to 'elaborate' my opinion and I did, where's the problem. My posts where at least more useful than -Major-'s most recent trolling, aye? So I do not see any problem here.

This is easily scriptable, right. But it wouldn't make any difference to me at all since I can easily see who was playing nicely and who wasn't and I don't need a feature that shows me which team had more points because I can see it from just looking at the score table for one moment. That's why it's meaningless to me.

So if people cannot count 1+1 I think you should simply give up instead of doing them this little favor :P

If you can calculate 16 people's scores for under 4 seconds, better test for autism.

Autism is not as much fun as you may think it is. I can calculate at least my teams scores under 4 seconds. Just tell me how checking your team frags is useful for you other than it tells you 'how efficient' (lol) your team is. If you have one spawner in your team your teams score will be even more meaningless than this feature.

You're right, we don't need it. How would it help the starving people in Somalia? It's useless. Banish it from your mind forever :) Just look at lag-aim, it helped save 10 lives so far, unlike this idea.

If you have 1 spawncamper and 1 guy to carry a flag through an empty field, is that teamwork? What about the other 5-6 guys in your team :D. How's that an indicator of anything but luck? At the end of the game, there will be 1 - 2 general cappers max. So the rest of your team is useless, cap-wise and therefore we should forget them.
Kills, on the other hand, show everyone's effort.

Your sarcasm fails here. You know you can see ones score from looking at the score table. And you really know who was useful by looking at your teams frag score, yes.

Yes, but admit it, it's sweet to count the bodies at the end of the battle. "This was bloodier than the last one". Comparing your kill contribution to the total amount of kills, may also help increase your usefulness status. Like those darn K:D showoffs.

Let's hear an opinion from someone among the higher ranks.

not necessarily. with some training that could be done, it's usually double numbered amount of kills, so you can just run the whole list and add it together.... 16 people is a bit much but... I'm sure it's possible without being an autistic savant.

It's also sweet to run Soldat without lags/eats/warps/hacks/noobs/flamers/bitches/whatever. Thanks.

Is it really that bad of a thing having a few extra numbers show up on a scoreboard?

I like this feature. With the new scoreboard in 1.5.1 it's harder to tell how each team is doing compared to another team. Showing total kills, deaths and caps for the whole team is the very least that could (and should) be done to make this easier.

"Count it yourself" is not a solution, and if you use your imagination a bit - you'll understand why. If that didn't help, I'll try to explain: it's not always 1+2+3. Often there are 10+ players on the server, and each player often has 10+ kills. Don't assume that everyone can and wants to spend time figuring out how much is 9+12+14+7+16. Times that by 4 (total kills and deaths for both teams, assuming this is not a 4-team deathmatch)

I think it's a great idea. Mainly because of this reason:

No difference between man and mouse - both end up in pussy.
