I wouldn't really like something like that. You need to spot the predator in order to shoot him, a good player won't be seen. Unfortunatly everyone thinks they can jet/jump while being pred without being seen ...

alpha of an object mean in this context as transparancy, not like the teams alpha and bravo moron. do some AS2-3

Simply reducing transparency is not the solution. While it'll make contrast cheat (I prefer calling it gamma cheat) less helpful, it'll also give an unnecessary buff to pred kits.

It's already very hard to see preds, nearly impossible if the background is dark and/or too many sceneries around. But if neither of those are present - player vs pred battles are incredibly fun. Making preds more transparent will ruin that fun by making it even harder to notice preds.

Possible solution:
Instead of simple transparency reduction, some sort of distortion effect could be used.
For example, instead of a gostek there could be semi-transparent animated ripples. If they have equal amount of darks and lights - this effect would be visible on both light and dark backgrounds. Transparency of the ripples as a whole could be dependent on gamma setting. The higher the gamma setting - the lower the ripple transparency.

Ripples themselves could be done as bmp/png frames or maybe as an animated gif (with some protection against modification of course). Kind of like how the explosion effects are done, except the animation would only play when player is moving.

Sorry, I tried changing the gamma from the options and in my opinion it really didn't help me to see the predator. It has to be fake or I must've done something wrong.

If you know how to handle while vanished - especially in hexer - you do not need to care to get shoot.

That is what my expierience is:
You are more invisible as less you move, if you move much and fast you can be seen faster.
Learn to use canonflips aswell normal flips instead of jetting over holes or such things in maps where you can fall down.
Also get used to kill your enemy fast and watch out that no other enemy is in range or it may be your end soon.
Get used to it that there are players out which just see preds like normal players which aren't vanished.

Just learn to goddam play this game?

just shut up swompie, im not here so you can just tell me how to play hexer. i play hexer very damn well but i find it disturbing that 1 of my 4 skills isn't as effective because people still can see me through the transparency. i just wanted to point this out because i hate those bastards of a "Gamma" users that tune their screens or scenery or gostek just to "spot" vanished or "hiding" players

I didn't say how to play hexer, I just told all who read this topic what good ways are when beeing vanished, that's all, never said something against you, did I?
Ok, my last sentence maybe a bit, but It's not only you who cry about such shit, there are bigger problems, and as I also said there a players who just see preds as anything else too, they didn't modify their monitors, also not the gamma in soldat or w/e.
I once tried it myself, it doesn't help much, it's more like making your eyes bleeding.

basically you just said that there's no such thing as contrast cheat and that it's just MeMM00 is being noob.

Have you even bothered testing it yourself? When I learned about it - I tried it and I could see preds almost as easily as normal players even while swinging the cursor around. When they were still and hiding in the sceneries it was a bit harder, but still very easy if your gamma is set to max.
Compare that to when you have default gamma - you have to sit still and STARE (O)_(O) at the terrain hoping to get a glimpse of something moving between the sceneries.

You do know that gamma setting doesn't work in windowed mode, right?
In any case, I can assure you it's not fake. Like I said - I tested it myself, it works, and gives a huge advantage against preds.

The Predator bonus is not intended to make you fully invisible, only harder to see. In the Predator movie, his camouflage was not 100% invisible. Otherwise we'd have to rename the bonus to "Invisibility" >__>
