I'd like to see you throw a 6600 into your computer and play without constant stuttering and crashes.

The minimum video card you need is a nVidia Geforce 6600 for any source game, including this one.

I've run Gmod off of a GeForce 400mx/mx. If I find the screenshots, I'll put them up. They're lulzy at best.

Well, I'm just saying that is what you need if you want any hope at all. I never said you were going to run it smoothly.

But you're right Thinkto you need a better card than that. Besides, for Alien Swarm it would be worth it. Seems like it will be a fun game.

My objections:

you got all games organized.
-derp. i cant do snip
wow are you retarded or something? you asked for 10 advantages, you never said anything about how great the advantages should be.
Steam is great, only reason people doesn't like steam is because they don't buy their games, also because US people gotta pay less for their games than EU people.

and XF.... isn't that like the worst program ever? really ugly and it used to not work with soldat (so who knows what more games it ruins), got really buggy updates etc.

either way, you can't get this game in another way than trough steam, so I guess you can't get those demos and trials another way. but... I guess since you said you could, then you can. so don't download steam since it is so crap and doesn't bring any advantages.

Steam's DRM is really ass. If the company would ever go tits-up none of my Steam games would work anymore, unless by some miracle the games' developers or some crack group releases NoSteam patches. So it's best to look on the developer's website if there are any alternatives if you ever want to play your World of Goo again in 10 years.

hmm? I'm quite sure you can play offline... and I don't think steam would die in quite awhile, but sure... you never know.

what are you talking about, xfire looks good (i like its look more than steam), it used to work with soldat but then something with soldat happend and it didnt work anymore so i guess it's soldat's fault, and i haven't experienced any bugs with xfire yet, unlike with steam. It was a real pain in the ass to try to run Portal when my internet connection was down, made me hate steam.

ontopic, getting this game today, im keen on playing co-op mode, haven't played it in any game ever :)

Well, I just played a bit of that new Alien Swarm.

I have 2.8Ghz dual core, 2gb Ram, and GeForce 7600 GS. Unfortunately that was enough only to run the game on lowest settings, and it was still around 25 FPS or so. Still, I played single player a bit, and it had a lot of nice additions compared to the original.

Out of those additions here's what caught my eye right away:
1) The controls are a lot simpler.
2) Active Reload system stolen from Gears of War. :D
3) Hacking doors and consoles now also involves solving puzzles instead of a simple progress bar.
4) The difference in stats between characters is much more obvious.
5) A lot better bot AI. Now they actually take positions so that all routes are in their sights.
6) Minimap that shows you the whole map, so you can plan ahead.

I wish I could play the game more than that (but it's just not much fun with such sluggishness), but the little time I managed to spend playing it - it was very fun.

Finished the campaign on hard at 3 in the morning last night, have to say that it was incredibly fun despite dying around 10 times trying to finish Timor Station.
Seems like 2 medics with the health-gun and teslas along with a flamethrower captain are all that are really needed.

Good game, would be nice if it had more than 1 campaign though.

It probably will. I remember seeing lots of user-made campaigns for original mod, and there's already a (supposedly easy-to-use) level editor for new Alien Swarm. So we should get some user-made and maybe even official campaigns soon enough. I just hope they'll still be free. :|

There is a command to making the spinning stop when you get hit by an enemy.

Open up the console in Alien SWarm and use this: asw_camera_shake 0

That should fix it.

A Sprinkle of Irish Chaos Do you know where we can find out more commands? I want to turn off as many visual features as possible to get some FPS boost. :/
