Alien Swarm: Free game on Steam coming Monday

Alien Swarm is a remake of the UT2k4 mod of the same name, which was released in 2004.  The developers later promised a standalone retail version of the game but were hired from Valve to work on L4D and Portal 2 and were never heard from again, until two f**kin days ago when they announced it for motherf**kin FREE

Saw this on digg and I can't wait. Valve is a very clever company, something like this should be far more effective advertising than a tv spot.

The most accounts i had on steam are of the 1-use type, for betas and similar.
Steam by itself is somewhat obnoxious to me, cant explain it, it just is.

you can see what game and where your friends are playing.
you can download your legal games (even those you haven't purchased from steam I think), as long as it's available on steam.
easy to uninstall games.
they offer demos and trials.
tracks your ingame stats.
tracks with what players and on what servers you have played.
got VAC anti-cheat.

Came out not long ago. Pretty nice game, though it gets repetitive. And it's not free.

I played a bit of the original Alien Swarm mod for UT2004. Played it with a friend and each of us also had a bot squadmate. Trying to play as 2 characters at once was very hard (especially since the bot AI kinda failed), so we gave up on the mod. :/ If you manage to get enough players to replace bots - it would be epic. And with Steam it should become a lot easier (that's the first time I find Steam useful :O ).

I don't think my computer can handle those graphics though.

It's the source engine, if your computer can't handle the source engine you need a new one pronto.

Yeah, my comp fails epically, but I don't have moneys to buy a new one. Cant find a job either.

The minimum video card you need is a nVidia Geforce 6600 for any source game, including this one.

This game is going to focus on more cpu and ram due to the swarms of aliens, etc.
