Instant messengers predominance
« on: October 12, 2010, 09:22:45 am »
What's the most famous instant messenger in your country?

Here in Brazil ICQ was used until 2004 and dead in 2005.
Now the most people uses MSN.
(old internet users still prefer ICQ, I guess)

Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

Imho most official IM clients are totally bloated, which is why I use pidgin/meebo and irssi. I only open skype when I need it, which isn't often.

ICQ is still popular in Russia and Ukraine as far as I know, but Skype's getting more and more popular too. Also Mail.ru Agent (used mostly by internet newbs).

I use* ICQ, MSN and IRC.
ICQ is filled with spambots, while MSN's almost completely spam-free unless you have noob buddies who got scammed by some shady website. Also tried XFire before, but was disappointed by the fact that there's a limited list of supported games.
And I use Miranda IM as a client.

*I just stay online and rarely talk to anyone, if that can be considered "using".

MSN for mIRC, because I don't need video/voice chat on my IM client.

ICQ is one huge overloaded piece of crap compared to MSN and that's why I use it.
