Professional Interface
« on: January 05, 2011, 11:19:06 am »
This is the BEST interface evar! AND HARDCORE TOO! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDdddddd

That piece of beautiful and proffesional work will kick everybody's ass, because you wont see everything on the screen except that stupid white dot that does as a crosshair! But don't worry! There are two versions of this interface in the ZIP archive, so you can disable that annoying dot! Is that great? - OH YEA! I WANT TO DONT HIT EVERYTHING AND SEE EVERYBODY WITH LAME INTERFACES SPRAYING THESE GOD DAMN BULLETS AT ME! But professionals like you actually don't care about the crosshair, cause they ALWAYS can hit anything, yeah? So this interface is correctly for you.

So, here are awesome features:

- You can't see your Health Bar;
- You can't see your Vest Bar;
- You can't see your Ammo Bar;
- You can't see your Ammo Text;
- You can't see how many greades you have;
- You can't see which weapon you have;
- You can't see your Jet Bar;
- You can't see your Status; (you can always press F1)
- You can't see your Crosshair; (optional)
- You can't see how many Flags you lost and captured;
- You can't see s**t;
- You are on your own with that interface;
- Gross Filename is Gross;
- And it works with any resolutions! So it requieres Registered Soldat! IZ DAT HARDKAWR ENAFF?!

The image below perfectly describes that interface

That's the end! Download that interface and have fun with it! And remember! DON'T TRY TO HIT ANYTHING, BECAUSE YOU WILL MISS!

PURE HAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDCOOOOOOOOOORRRREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!111!!1oneoneelevenninethousand!!11!1!one

Dowondlard Wait whut bad mirror...Download.

...I think in real life you would know whether you're injured, almost dead or have top health.
Health bar should be added. You'd also know which gun you have and an approximation of ammo for the gun, and approx amount of nades.
Have you even made the guy invisible to the user???
Scrapping all of it completely is useless imo. You need a crosshair for a start ¬.¬

The gostek bleeds when he is almost dead. Hurr.

Health bar should be added. You'd also know which gun you have and an approximation of ammo for the gun

In real life you can't always see how many ammo and bullets you have in mag. Unless you have P90.

You would have an idea of how many bullets you loaded into your gun, and how many nades you had.
If you shot 3 bullets you'd know it wasn't the full load.

As for health, if you know you're pretty much dead, it's a lil too late.

I know, I know... but I was just expressing my opinion.

Imo, mods should either be:
A: realistic
B: funny
C: good-looking
or if none of the above at least..
D: have some function.

This has none of the above atm.

I think its great!

Imo, this interface is:

A: realistic
B: funny
C: good-looking
D: functions as a reality check.

Games should always have more intuitive, and inventive ways of providing real-time information about whats going on without plastering your screen with gauges and meters, maps and readouts. Intelligent use of audio and visual cues, combined with the power of critical thinking from the user, should be all you need for a successful game design.

You know how much health you have from the state of your body. You can readily see it. You know what is and what isnt going to hurt you, and whether its gonna hurt a lot. So you use your brain and avoid things that hurt you. Got hurt and died? Well that's what happens when you cant survive better than your opponent. You should never go into any situation (virtual or not) under the assumption that you have more than one hit point - you dont always get to see the second attack. Dont rely on having a healthbar or a vest, and play under the notion of avoiding getting hit at all. This is ultimately the best way to make use of any amount of health or vest you possess.

You use your brain to tell how many bullets you have - you know what gun youre holding, how much ammo it can hold, and roughly how many bullets you fired since you last reloaded.
You always know when you have at least one grenade, and if you use your brain, you never ever rely on having nades to protect yourself - having just one should be all the advantage you need to survive.

In fact, the only bad things are see are the crosshair and the scoresheet - but these are things that are symbolically seemingly impossible to convey differently/replace with clever design anyway. At least the minimalist approach works for me - disabling the crosshair is awesome imo but you need to have the natural intuition of Yoda to be any good at Soldat without it.

I stand corrected.
Although I still wouldn't call it particularly useful, I've just tried it out, and it's strangely amusing :L

You don't need the crosshair, your player tells you where you are aiming perfectly.

i.e. rotate your player 180 degrees about the centre of the screen and it will be where you are aiming.

Now that's hard core.

This mod makes me wanna actually start playing again. I never even thought of playing with HUD completely off. This would definitely make things fresh and interesting.
I vote for this to be included in default package.

After few hours playing wiht this, I think too that this should be added as default into soldat.
Actually, it is easier to play with this mod, because you can see around you a lot better, and mine watching didn't head all the time to all those metres. This didn't work as mod for some reason, but it tells something about my likings on this mod, that I replaced it with the old ones. This makes maps too a way more beautiful. Info there is now is enough, but I don't think that adding somelike gas meter wouldn't harm.
Sorry if I'm insolent.

So all my interfaces are inferior to an empty space? Damn internet.
btw, it was posted a few years ago under similiar name (Pro or something) here on SF and got positive reactions too. I don't remember who made it though.

@down: No, it was the same thing as this one - hidden interface. I don't remember if the cursor was visible or not. And it was around 2006, not 2008. I'm sure its name contained "pro".

You're probably thinking of this. Someone else proposed the idea of a "pro" invisible mod and Kagesha made it.

thumbs up! i like it, at least for training.
as i expected, it was pretty easy to get used to with automatic weapons, and for some reason i did better than expected using the barret, even with scope, but i had a really hard time rugering and deagling this way. you (or at least i) cant predict the accurate point im aiming at, just by looking at the way my dudes holding the rifle. and i dont dare to mention knife throwing...

A jet bar is a must-make.

I agree, this does suit best with realistic but you do need to know your jet level (so for ex. you'll know if you can reach a hill or forget about it, depending on every map's specific fuel quantity it gives you)
