Minecraft Community Server ?

im not sure how many of you play minecraft but i´m sure its enough that it would be nice  to have a soldat community minecraft server.

I could perhaps host it but first of all i would like to hear what u think about my idea.

n00bface was hosting one (though I don't think it was limited to just Soldat community), but I'm not sure if it's still up and working like it should, since some of the scripts got broken after latest update. :S
I wouldn't mind getting back to minecraft every now and then if you can host an interesting and bug-free server, and if there will be enough people.

It's still up. It averages about 10 players at a time during the weekend, but gets up to 35-40 over the weekends. Bukkit won't be released for another couple of weeks it looks like, so the scripts are still off, but there haven't been many problems without them. My world, on the other hand, has reached the Minecraft size limit @ 1000MB Blocks can still be saved, but no new terrain is generated.

So guys... As long as I've read this thread I can see that we can't get out own community server but what if we use someone else's server?

The server is lag free, the server itself is located at Germany. Even US people don't lag. There are like loads of em there

That actually sounds like a good idea. We could just build a "soldat village" or something and hang around there. XD But that server you mentioned is wayy too populated and there's already a ton of stuff already built. I'd prefer a less populated server. :S

I'm in, I'm looking for a medium populated server anyways. Just make sure it's white listed, most servers fail because of this. I don't see why it should be limited to soldatforums users specifically though, maybe allow us to invite some friends?

case by case sure but it's up to who ever hots the server and IF this will ever happen.

I've asked a fellow INFer (RafiPZ, you might've seen it on the forums before), and he hosted a minecraft server here:

It's currently in a test phaze, so go play there, test it and post here if you have any problems/lags/whatever. No whitelist or bukkit right now, but there should be some time in the future.
