I've read here about a Gather App with which you don't have to use IRC anymore. So... where can I find this App and is it still up to date?

Apparently not that many soldatters use this forum, and admins are too lazy to advertise new scripts and apps.

It's not even part of the forum. It's just mentioned in one forum thread and thats it. :/ And on Soldat.pl it's just one of the many buttons that says "gather" which most people probably don't even understand the meaning of it.
The new gather can't be used if people can't even find it..

No disrespect, but as Owls said, good idea, bad execution. You can tell from the get go that it wasn't going to work. Not only would it further separate the community but it's just as quite a hassle to get on. You need an account and I could have easily went into the same link provided and went to the tab under GATHER, named CHAT, and could have joined a gather channel in the same amount of time if not faster.

Secondly, there was no advertising and the little advertising that was done was to this community where more than half the people here don't play anymore. People who are "competitive" would have to make an SF name just to gather.

Although I am against gathers and I truly believe it was and still is crippling this community, it is still a better and known system than the one trying to be implemented. No offense, but it's almost like the people who coded this were just bored and just wanted an excuse to code something.

I was the sole coder of this project. The reason I did it was because MM said he wanted it done and I didn't feel like watching someone else halfass it.

i like that idea cauze the soldat community could propably grow like that... and it would be fun and who the hell are u demoniac93 that u think u can judge bout me ? yea.. right NOBODY! srsly a Facebook soldat app - that will sure bring us 200 more online players in lobby server list(300-600 curently) - whats against ^^?

and help grow soldat or GTFO! (i always beg my friends to start play soldat^^) its hard... since its 2d xD

The last thing we need is more trolls and f**ktards infesting our servers.
We're little in numbers but at least there's still some decent people around, don't scare them off by making soldat a kindergarten.
Also, try not being such a wuss in the future, I didn't say nor imply anything insulting...
Oh yeah, and the time it would take to make this happen, could be invested in fixing netcode issues, bugs and different sorts of glitches, or make maps and mods.

more players seems to be a too great challenge for some ppls... do u think only noobs join? i play css / cod(all almost^^) / bfbc2 and some other (smaller games) so soldat isnt a game what turns me on from the graphic its the gameplay... so i think also alot good players could join ... and noobs are needed too or do YOU <- wanna be always last in scorelist^^?

hehe well it would help soldat to come in 21th century

i like the game and wanna help it to grow i also map for it and try since a while to script some mods (the mod part doesnt work so well^^) so if u actually like the game and u think about then u know on ur own a facebook soldat app would be a damne good idea... also modders / mappers / scripters could taste there the smell of soldat and may they join - so new mods new maps etc will come too....

But that's beside the point, which is that if you want to make soldat popular, you need to advertise it, not make social site apps for it...

i guess older then u otherwhise u would've noticed u can read in my profile my birthdate... dont come with the age part my english is maybe not perfect but good enough...

i dont wanna make it popular but i can tell u the facebook apps get all used it can be a crap bottle shaker game and still 50000 ppl play it ... create a app and soldat IS POPULAR.... so i say it again dont work against me^^ bether help me find some1 doing it^^

It doesn't actually sound TOO bad. A whole facebook app would be an overkill, but maybe a simple script that changes your facebook or twitter status to something like "having fun in Soldat, [www.soldat.pl]" might actually get some new people. Facebook and twitter are popular, and if gamers use it - obviously they should have some gamer friends who might be interested in soldat too.

Oh, Demoniac? Here's a horrible truth: there are actually lots of decent people using facebook. What kinds of people you find there is who you hang out with, so that's something for you to think about. ;/

I only used facebook at college because everyone found it a great way to organize group projects. Next thing I knew - 90% of my facebook buddies were gamers, designers, game designers, 3D modelers and artists. Some even used facebook to form and advertize a small gamedev team and advertize and get feedback for their game.

and i can tell u theres 100'000 gamers waiting for a such a funny tiny game

(when i see on all my friends last played games in facebook (some of them was ESL / EAS / EPS players like i was too)
then im shocked when i see how less ppl play soldat..
