The whole idea is just profoundly stupid, when you look around yourself and you see reality and how everything works how could you possibly believe in a God. My father taught me about cause and effect. Why does a ball fall to the ground? Why do we have a moon? Why is the Earth's axis titled at 23.44 degrees? My dad gave me all the answers to this question, and then I started learning by myself.

There needs to be some reason behind something otherwise everything we say is true, which is not the case.

Definition of true: in accordance with fact or reality: "a true story"; "of course it's true".

All you did was quote Cowper. My argument is good enough, something that is true has to be a fact or part of reality, since God does not stand up to this it's worthless to even recognize him or it since he does not exist.

The handle faces its own direction independent of others perception. We call this reality, and it is what is true regardless of what either person wishes to believe.

Two rational minded people who are interested in what is the truth will observe the cup's orientation and agree that the direction the handle is facing is independent of their own relative position. There is a true direction that can be agreed on.

Two people who each live by a different holy book; one that says the handle points towards Mecca, the other that says the handle always points towards Bethlehem will sit there arguing and ignoring any truth that can be observed.

When a rational person brings them a map and a compass and shows them the handle is really pointing to Cairo they ignore that too. Or they say that maps and compasses are made by the devil to tempt them into questioning their faith. Or they tear up the map and break the compass.
