Hmm... I'm not sure where the money'd go to though. It'd have to be huge and regular sums for a dev to leave school or quit their day job. We don't have any running costs because FliesLikeABrick kindly hosts servers and such for us. Maybe we could just put it all in Google AdWords to get some new players? :P

i wouldn't plan for it to be able to replace a dev's day job, just something to motivate them to spend more time on a hobby :)

and the question at hand would be just speculation. just consider a situation where the cause would make a difference and the intermediate to be completely trustworthy

Hell.. I really appreciate what they are doing for Soldat. If they manage to get nice updates, keeping things smooth and some kind of anti-cheat then I will honestly throw in $500 without doubt. Trust me.

The money could indeed be used to advertise Soldat on a professional level! Facebook are just 2 of the many possibilities. Is there yet a promotion video showing the serious and intense gameplay Soldat offers? Maybe it could be made more known by featuring it on some games magazines in different countries? More people would actually try it and could find their way to this gem of a forum?

As long as its something like kickstarter when we can clearly see how much was donated. And let the community decide what is that money spent on.
