Hi I wanted to ask you about new Soldat weapon names.
I think we have to rename the weapons because of trademark issues.
Most weapons also don't really represent the real weapons (M72 LAW can shoot more than once etc).

I had a few ideas and would like to hear your suggestions.
1) Generic names
2) Fake weapon names
3) Military codes names

Here is a template for your suggestions (put in [ tt ] ... [ /tt ] tags:

Can you be more specific about trademark issues?

As for M72 LAW, I always figured in practical terms it was kind of a one shot deal, with a reload for gameplay reasons. Same reason for the other weapons, I don't really give a damn about gun specifications so forgive me, but I believe they fire much faster and have way smaller clips than they do in Soldat.

So without knowing why there's trademark issues, I can't see anyone agreeing to change the names as it would cause only confusion.

Theres a version of the LAW , and its reaload-able

Anyway I dont get it abouut what is this Thread About?

Has MM received any lawsuits recently? If not i doubt they will pay attention to games like soldat. Are all of soldat's weapon names trademarked?

Reposting my ideas from the IRC which I have come up with few weeks ago. I was kinda trolling but not so much. I believe that we should rename weapons to say what they are/do.

It doesn't matter. The reason I want the rename is to be sure it's ok and there is no risk getting sued for such stuff.
There is and will be the possibility to replace the weapons.txt file with your own one.

Still this is a huge change you players that's why I'm asking you to find an acceptable solution.

Barrett, Steyr, Ruger are company names. I guess we cannot use them.

We can use the M134 Minigun (which is the actual Minigun used in Predator)
