I always thought you have to be careful with tactic taunts so enemy team wont 'tap' into your communication. Remember Soldat is war-like game.

In public servers this is also not much of a problem infact, i can see it beeing a problem in competive scene, but if you want to be realy competive you should use teamspeak anyway, so this seems not like a problem to me - a good solution anyway would be to add it to server.ini or such, like turn on hide team chat or turn off.

So do I because of the way it works, however I've always thought it's stupid, too. It's the little things like spying on the enemy team between the rounds that are an unneeded nuisance and rather a cheap strategy too. One shouldn't have to worry about if his message is so long it won't vanish in time. Besides you can always taunt something irrelevant to hide the first message. But like I said, an unneeded nuisance.

I don't believe in polls, hence didn't add one. This is why.

If the SCTFL votes have have four to eight times more votes than a vote here and it changes nothing, I really don't expect much to happen here either. It's nothing personal but I think it's wrong to think SCTFL's votes are not as important (at least) as votes on SF just cause it's "not the official forum."

However added a poll and I'm expecting no more than 15 votes lol

This adds a really nice little touch to the game. There even were times when I deliberately used the wrong taunt to make the enemy take the wrong route.


Though I also understand why some people wouldn't want this. A server-side setting would be an ideal solution IMHO.

It would make more sense to have a poll deciding whether you want this option on servers or not.

Yes. It is lacking the server-side option.


Mind you some scripted modes need to be able to keep the old behavior.
For example !runmode has this nifty feature which draws the checkpoint times above the player using team chat.
