Soldat 1.6.4 changelog:- Modified bullets to not get a damage penalty after they pierce a bodyWeaponmod changes:Normal:Changes from 1.6.3 -> 1.6.4Barrett bink -5, moveacc -1
I do agree that hitting one person close to you and then another over the other side of the map seems a bit dodgy.. If possible, I think that after piercing once, as the bullet continues in its path it loses damage. The rate is increased if it pierces more people. This would make it so it would still be possible to get a collateral if players were close together but not if they were a fair distance apart. (Just damage them a fair amount)
After playing in One Shots (Barrett/m79 only) 1.6.4 server for an hour, I would just like to say double/triple kills with barrett are way too easy easy to get and common occurrences now, especially on maps like Nuubia and Equinox where people just line up like sitting ducks for you. Damage should really be decreased because everybody was complaining about how powerful rret has become.
You can't really balance weapons according to special modes, like brt only. If it's damaging to your special community, then add a wm to fix it.Basically, now that it's shooting straight, it's too op? Even though everyone is using it?
Exactly. Thats why exist "Weapon Balance Discussion". We can't balance weapons thinking only in CTF or any other special mode.Barret must be balanced for all modes and one of these modes is TM.Everyone using a new WM does not mean that this mode is entire correct.

If Soldat is made for CTF and DM, would be appropriate to change the game name from "Soldat" to "Soldat for CTF and DM".
But you're surely more experienced in TDM than I, so I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on what the perceived problems with the weapons are in TDM.
The problem here is that where CTF has an actual obective, in (T)DM you can just run away and still win the game. In DM you can force the opponent to make the first move. In such situations the Barrett will always win because the opponent will die before he can actually do anything about it. I think it's impossible to balance it for DM modes without making it horribly unbalanced for other modes at the same time.

The Brazilian players use tactics, no one goes up the enemy if you're not totally sure it will hit him, and if you miss, you'll always have one behind you ready to hit. I can send them a demo of a official game (happened yesterday, semi final of SoldatX Winter CUP) and you'll see I'm not lying.I'm interested in a demoI can still remember how was the barret in version 1.4.2 ~ 1.4.3, which was probably the best time of Brazilian Soldat, surely the most competitive times we had, all because it was not easy to play with barret and predict what the enemy would do, and that the players who really dominated this gun excelled. It was almost a challenge to play well with Barret. We are not asking for "return barret to version 1.4.2!" We're only asking that it be a weapon balanced thinking also in TDM mode, which Brazilians love.
