Hello,

Since new moves are being added to Soldat, I would like to share with you this suggestion.   

Wall Jumping is a very popular trick in many video games. From vintage Metroid to next-gen TitanFall. Even Minecraft gets his mod for it.

My suggestion is to make a special poly-type allowing Wall-jumps.

I think that with this option getting to some places may be too easy.

Which is why I suggest to make it a special polygon type. That way the map makers are in full control.

Just think about how many maps would require a change to work.

If you make it a special polygon, no changes will be needed. It won't affect any existing maps.

If we really want to add more stuff to the game I would rather like to see a way to invent polytypes on your own via scripting and limit the default poly types to a few selected ones.
Also a polytype for wall climb sounds really special and of limited use compared to other stuff.
Maybe I'm wrong but I cannot see a lot of use for wallclimb polys.

You're wrong! :D But seriously, you'd be surprised what kinds of things a community can come up with if they're given the tools. Heck, mapmakers learned to make bounce pads and teleports out of polybugs. I'm sure they'll find more uses even for walljump polys.

That being said, I do agree that it's not really a good idea to add such a specific polytype when the entire map format is very limited and inefficient. It'd be much better to just rework the map format at some point and let mappers create their own polytypes.

I agree completely with Loner.

I'm pretty sure you all remember when bounce polys were a bug (multiple polys stacked). Later on it was added as a poly type and today we even have default maps who have it (htf_Star). New poly types means more creativity and therefore, cooler maps; not only for climbing, even though I guess would be the first gamemode to use it xD
