Quote from: Blacksheepboy on June 28, 2014, 06:50:31 pmI used to sit and refresh the forums, waiting for responses.I still do that. Whenever I'm on a computer, even at work at every job i've had, I always have an 'Active Topics' tab open and refresh it periodically throughout the day. I know some oldies refer to these forums as their first "internet forum" and have since moved elsewhere, but I haven't. Only forums I visit are these and 4chan, the latter of which doesn't count as its stateless and i only browse it when i'm drunk at 2am. Even if I didn't get into a staff position in the soldat/thd community and gain responsibility for maintaining the soldat forums/servers, I'd still come here and refresh active topics as a community member.Quote from: Shard on June 28, 2014, 06:25:10 pmToo soon for the shit posting or?God DAMN that looks good. I should probably learn to cook and buy ingredients to make that kind of sandwhich. Food porn is always welcome, even if it's for the sole purpose of keeping a forum alive. I don't know what that bowl is filled with though.Quote from: CheeSeMan. on June 28, 2014, 02:40:32 pmpost a devlog alreadyWhere the fuck are the devs anyway? Shoozza has yet to get back to me when i linked him this thread.

Alternatives to teh forum, 'cause it's so depressing:What if we left this forum running but heavily advertised the official soldatforums IRC channel? We could all hang out there and talk about soldat, there are so few of us that it might make the most sense. or maybe a soldatforums subreddit?
The forum could stay open for newbies who have questions or want to browse what's left of the maps/mods.What about official soldat gameservers? We could set dates for soldat gathers, say, on a couple random days in each month, so everyone has a shot at making it to one.

After all there are only a handful of servers active daily left so why even bother. I once though of an anti-idle day http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=43112.msg516416#msg516416 but obviously no one cared.
Regarding "official" servers, I host 18 for KAG (spread over US, DE, and AU) and their IPs/ports are hardcoded into the game itself so they show up gold colored and bold in the ingame server list. That is mainly for quality control as Furai maintains those servers in terms of banning people and setting the modes and stuff. I think Soldat would benefit from that if it had the player base it did 10 years ago.

Was polyworks fixed to support background polys?
It would also make sure that people could maybe play on good servers again. Currently the few "new players" Soldat will get will have to play on unmoderated servers which are full of retards running around with their Chainsaw, Brt & M79 for the whole time. They'll have to play with 20 people on maps which were made for 6-8 players and they will get spammed with retarded scripts and in the end they will think that the /mine command which places a mine on the ground is an official game feature. Then they'll uninstall the game.
- discouraging talented and motivated people always bothered me / It seemed that no one really cared about the amazing work Akinaro made for Soldat and again no one saw the high rate of work he contributed. He would have been capable of redoing all Soldat maps / Menus / Logs and everything visual related in a very short time but all he got was insults. one of his maps He is by far the best mapper we had in visual terms, everyone disagreeing here, has no idea.
I have made a post about the need of a new GUI and Account System / Portal / Stats on selfkill.com which must have been in 2006 or 2007 and all the german community did was giving dumb replys like "play Call of Duty then" because they lack the idea behind what marketing is and how important the visual look of the menu and GUI is (the first thing the player will see after installing the game) and the portal (which shows the latest game news, manuals, links and what not) and Account System (for the case that there is no anti-cheat, it will help to get hackers banned, it does give the devs statistics about the playerbase, new registrations etc. and of corse the stats system which is one of the most important things in games since it's getting people hooked.)
Soldat is quite much BUGFREE.EA Sports, a multi-million company, releasing FIFA every year has bugs. (ref will end the match if it's in 90+ but if you are just about to shoot a goal, because they are too dumb to recognize that YOURPLAYER.POSITION = close to the enemies goalit has several other bugs which BREAK the game.
I can set up some "official" servers (in US, DE, and AU) and work with shoozza to make them stand out in the ingame list, depending on whether or not he thinks this is a good idea. I already host (and rent) a bunch of soldat servers for random people, and of course the "jrgp's" servers which occasionally are full.
Can i get a reccommended star plx on zabijaka servers
No one ever disputed his mapping ability. He was heavily praised for it. You are ignoring the fact that he was not polite or friendly which is why he left.
No, we did not. We encouraged him to map, but also told him to shut the fuck up. He didn't, and now he's gone. Or were we supposed to hold our arses for him so he may ravage in us for the sake of a couple of maps? You got to be kidding me.
As for myself, I was discouraged to map, because none of the staff responsible for maps got in contact with me. I wrote a couple of PMs asking for what's up and whether they need help fixing bugs in maps, or what they think about the remakes - but nothing. Akinaro was actually told his maps are amazing, so what the fuck.
Players choose where they want to play, if out of 150 online servers they choose my 4 ctfs it means they are serving their purpose perfectly.
-ctf#4 is 16 slots and is most popular server atm so dont question players taste
- your arguments are valid!
dardar so mad on my servers even though they are pretty much only active ctf;d
jrgp:No one ever disputed his mapping ability. He was heavily praised for it. You are ignoring the fact that he was not polite or friendly which is why he left.
jrgp:Regarding an account system/portal: right before EnEsCe was kicked off the devteam he did complete an account system and portal for the game, including "lobby chat" based on IRC. The added functionality garnered mixed to negative reception. Once development was transferred to Shoozza, the new devteam worked for a while removing all traces of the account system from the code.
If you start growing up with some cheap fake coka cola then you'll obviously drink it, not because it tastes so amazing, but because you don't know any alternatvies. Your map pool is that fake coka cola and the players didn't have the opportunity to taste the amazing real coke yet.
It's quite easy to find out about how other people think and behave and someone with a common sense about that could just have shutup by himself instead of insulting him for no reason over and over again. Things like "You are a good mapper but a horrible person" as a first reply to a new map doesn't really give a good impact on such.If you know that your opinions might be different than by some other member but you see him contributing aweseome work to the community then just shut the fuck up or answer in a solid way that he won't be hurt too much. It's quite easy, just read his mind a little.
