Looks awesome.  Are those little dead soldats I see laying on some portions of the map?

That statue looks a bit out of place imo.  But the shading and texture streaching are as smooth as ever.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

personally i think he is THE best mapper. both layout and optics are always great + he releases like 1 map each two days, thats one hell of speed regarding the complexity of the maps

EDIT:
somehow i'm missing al scenery in the rar file. happens to me with db_island aswell, could you possibly upload a zip?

I think the green area really disrupts the harmony of the map, otherwise you did a great map, as usual :)

I love how it transitions from sand and dirt to grass, trees and water.

I love the scenery, texture, shading, and everything else about this map.

Im downloading it now...

edit: I just played the map, and love how it doesnt have polybugs.

zOMFG this map owns.  I love it.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

yeah, we discussed this map in our forums. The main concern was the overloaded scenerys.
ps.: so yes, new version seems better

My friend taught me to play on those 3 Arenas, and i already remember how ugly they were in the past, and even after some rmks how ugly they are. I lav those themed rmks.

I love this remake, but... need two things:

Remove two boxes, are important areas to ricochete.

Those greeny islands should be changed back to original and png scenery should be changed/fixed.

God this is old like hell. Those shadings were outstanding and ahead of their time and even to this day, it dominates.
Those islands looks like two poops in snow - fully deserted desert would look alot better.

I kind of liked the coloring in the old arena.. It was orange, brown and gray if I recall right. But here it's just two colors that
doesn't even fit together.

You're forgetting really saturated solid blue background and bright-green grass. Colors were a mess in the original Arena3. Green and yellow fit together much better, but I agree that in this case islands are way too green comparing to the rest of the map. It would look better if there's less grass and if that grass has a tiny bit of yellow tint.

A pic for reference: http://thecontaminated.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/ubari-oasis.jpg

A few pillars or similar sceneries at the bottom (under the islands?) would be a nice addition to gameplay and visuals. Low is rather vulnerable, but pillars could at least be used for hiding/camping.

I know VTT knows better than to follow this suggestion, but just for reference: No.

Luv this map simply for of its older nostalgic style. Yes I know it isn't old if you really want to compare it to the prehistoric Ash etc.
