I liked ash2 as well. Perhaps different categories for different map types would be an idea?

that'd be too much if we chose 1 map for each gametype or atleast DM and CTF, and on the other hand it wouldnt be enough nomination worthy maps if we did only 1 gamemode each week

I think you guys made a good choice because you didn't make it just about how cool the map looked, in which case either Easter Island or Morass would have won. This will encourage people who want this award to not just focus on visuals.

ctf_Festen is a pain to play, i tell you.
and it doesnt have a big open area at all which is really populated during game.
