Basics are, I want to be able to have ice that I can also shoot through.
Or a deadly bit that I can shoot through (so only player colliding).
Mixing and matching would be great imo.
E.g.
  • Ice + only player collide. This would probably be the most used.
  • Hurts + only player collide
  • Lava + only player collide
  • Regenerates + only player collide
Not:
  • Deadly, bloody deadly + only player collide xD that would not work!

Thoughts?

I think that in some of those cases, it will cause confusion.. deadly + only bullets collide will act as if it's a normal poly anyway?

Explain?

The reason I put this forward was due to the fact I wanted icy, non-bullet colliding poly's.
Some could not work in all combinations (e.g. only bullet colliding and deadly for example) but those combo's could be set as invalid - so in polyworks you choose the type, then the options 'player collides', 'bullet collides' or 'does not collide' appear depending on which poly type is selected.

Hm... i would not make it so :/ i simply would add new poly tipes in soldat like water? ice/only player colides and deadly/only players colide  so... and the best thing in soldat would be Breakable polys so you can make a map with boxes and destroyable environment  that should be better  ;)

Here's how a polygon menu could look like in polyworks:

Opacity:      [81%]

Collides:   
(-)      [bullets]
(-)      [flaggers]
(+) add object type

Effects:
(-) Effect:   [bounce]      [60m]
(-) Effect:   [regenerate]   [12] units per [30] ticks
(+) add effect
-----------

Also:
Adjustable hurt/lava/regeneration effect values
Ability to set the amount and frequency of those effects. For example, make a polygon that heals 50hp every 10 seconds, or hurt poly that deals 5 damage per second.

Btw, I see nothing wrong with combos like no-bullets-collide + hurts. In fact, it could be used in many ways, like instead of creating hurt PLATFORMS you could create hurt AREAS which can's be avoided simply by hovering above the floor. As long as contacts with non-collideable polygons are still registered it should work.
Even if some combination really is useless - theres no need to completely disable it. You never know if some genius will come up with some way to use it to create something awesome that nobody else thought of.

But I generally agree. The adding of collision-type and poly-type is good. Not sure about some of the other suggestions about poly's... this is just simple and im surprised it has not been altered.

it's not really a new 'poly-type'... it's just combining previous types in a couple of combinations.
