In-game fps is 400~.Not sure where you're getting the 16 fps from.To clear up some confusion: Soldat uses 16 images (frames) for explosion, played at the speed of roughly 20 frames-per-second*. *Judging by the lack of smoothness and the fact that explosion it's shorter than half-a-second, it definitely looks worse than 30 frames-per-second.Either way like Savage said, first the game needs to actually support more frames for smoother explosions before we can use it. Or use a whole different particle system altogether.
Add random rotation smoke and it would be wonderful always different directions for such a wonderful explosion
