Do you support the new weapon balances?
« on: April 11, 2007, 12:26:09 am »
the changes:
Deagles :   Â                dmg +2, reload -8
// HK MP5 :   dmg -2, reload +10, bink +13
// AK :      dmg -10, fireinterval -1, moveacc +1, bink +21
// Steyr :   Â                moveacc +1, bink +11
// Spas :   Â                speed +1, fireinterval -2
// Ruger :   Â                dmg +2, reload -5
// M79 :   Â                speed -3, bink -5
// Barret :   Â                moveacc +1, bink +10
// Minimi :   Â                dmg -1, moveacc +2, bink +35
// Minigun :   dmg +1, bink +4
// Socom :   dmg -1
// Knife :   --
// Chainsaw :   fireinterval -2, speed +6, reload +60, ammo +100
// LAW :   Â                reload -60

I got these from a document i downloaded here:

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=39.0

I thought maybe before implementing this, the community should show all the high and might beta testers what we think.

Before you vote please note the following:
1) Every auto except minigun now does less damage and has + bink. (someone please explain this to me.  I can't comprehend why >:()
2) steyr will be new pwnage auto
3) the m79 remains virtually the same
4) chainsaw and minigun finally got some bounses

I personally am voting in disfavor. That's just me. I'm probly just bummed I'll be using steyr now. I'm also afraid that with nerfed autos the pubs are gonna be jam packed with m79ers again. There's already enough of them on gathers.

Yes- even though I'd rather we revert back to 1.2.1 balance.

I rather support. Even though I can't tell anything about Barrett - i hate it and never use. It's good that spas, minigun and eagles are better but I'm a little concerned about less damage of most autos.

Mp5: Was considered a bit overpowered. Does less damage and a bit longer reload, but is more accurate.

Ak: Each bullet does less damage, bit it fires faster to compensate. It acctually does more damage over time, but it's clip doesn't last as long. A tiny bit less accurate.

Steyr: Little less accurate.

Minimi: Was considered "medium" overpowered. Does less damage and is less accurate. But the selfbink is almost completely removed so joo can hold in fire and mow down troopers like a real machinegun.

I don't think the extra movement acc on the barret is necessary.  Also I just don't like movement acc in general, mainly because I don't want to have to get used to it in order to account for it - I'm sure in a few weeks it'd be like nothing happened at all.  The balance is just another side step, rather than a step forward.  A pointless reorganisation of the balance.

From the sounds of things everyone in different places around the world has a different view of balance anyway.  Americans seem to think the steyr is overpowered... yet in Australia 90% of people don't like it at all, and far fewer are any good with it.  Most americans think the minimi is shit...  and again the opposite is true over here.  My point is that you're not going to find a balance everyone is happy with, everyone sees it differently and eventually fits in with their community on some kind of consensus.

So really i think the current balance is almost fine, apart from the very shitty deagles.  I think with them it's part damage, possibly reload and an amazing amount of non-reg.  Which from the sounds of things is fixed *fingers crossed*.

I'm not saying the balance is bad, or even worse than the current balance.  Just that it isn't a step forward for gameplay.

One thing that is against the steyer still is its small clip, it order to kill someone with it, u either need to get a nade on them, or hit almost every shot.

The weapon balance is fine in my opinion.
Sometimes I use barret and because the bink went up, I think thats why people say I have bink hacks  ???

The Barret should be binked a little more. That weapons not meant to be ran around with. Any avg player can pick that thing up pop off even the most expierenced players. The Barret is a long distance attack rifle not some up close run around pop off 1 hit kills weapon. Youll know youll get this perfect when you see the few expierenced barret users shine over the avg ones who just run around put their cursor on you and pop off a shot.

huh

wait, 6_th account, or anyone else, please explain how +21 bink makes AK only a little less accurate. seams like a pretty big jump to me. The more damage over time doesn't sound that bad though, but im still not convinced this is for the better

Positive Bink values means that the gun has bink. Negative Bink values means selfbink.

In this case the Ak lost 21 units of selfbink out of 40. For a somewhat experianced player, selfbink doesn't effect the accuracy that much. The +1 moveacc does however deaccurize the gun a bit.

I've tried out the weapon balance, but since I've started to get used to using all the guns in the current balance, it's awkward, and I'm sure I'll get used to them faster than I did when I started 1 year ago, but...

Even with the self-bink lessened, the Minimi is now totally weak. -1 damage and +2 movementacc? Are you guys serious? What kind of sillyness is that? It is the least used auto, period, and now you're nerfing a nearly already balanced gun. I don't think I'll ever be effective with it ever again. It already has 2 movementacc, whereas all the other autos have only 1 , but now it gets a whopping +2 and a damage reduction. The lessened self-bink does not make up for this. The gun is now almost as inaccurate as the Barrett when moving, the self-bink reduction won't even help because none of the shots hit the target. The other autos have all been given only +1. It was one of my favorite guns to use, almost no one has complained about it, unlike all the other weapons, yet it gets nerfed worse than the other ones. Well, the MP5 change is also a bit drastic, but the Minimi? Come on now.

Also, the self-bink reductions are just to hide the fact that all the autos have been nerfed and all the semis have been boosted. Self-bink wasn't a problem due to the clicking exploit, and now you guys nerf all of them while giving us this stuff about self-bink reduction to offset it. Really, this is just unecessary.

I think as a result of this Minimi-change the weapon will be used more stationary, as intended, i guess  :)

Remaining stationary in Soldat = suicide. Even camping is not safe. The gun is becoming less effective, yet it was already balanced perfectly. Virtually every single weapon has been complained about or wanted a boost to in this section except the Minimi, yet it is the least used primary as it is. This is reckless.

i totally agree twistkill. I'm thinking about setting up a server that'll keep the current balance, cause, damn. What you say about the minime is totally true. The only time its good is if you're moving. The reload is so long that to stay stationary is uneffecive. You're going to have to move when the reload comes, and if you haven't already been moving you'll have a poor idea of where people are on the map, and you're gonna get capped.

and boy. that -10 damage ak still has got me pissed. Its just gonna be like the steyr. It'll shoot fast, be unaccurate, and eat through its clip. meanwhile the rest of the guns get better.

The only changes I see as nessacary are the deagles, chainsaw, and minigun. And then instead of weakening ak, minime and mp5, steyr should have simply should have been brought up to speed.  This patch better be better than it looks right now.

Have you actually played the new balance?
The new AK is incredible, after using it in gathers its hard to go back to the 1.3.1 balance in scrims.

Wait, what?

I enjoy the new AK, and after playing in gathers, it appears to be basically balanced. So yes, I do support the new balance.
The only change I dislike is to the MP5, as I liked spraying wildly with it in 1.3.1  [retard]

If anyone has some servers, that are not in use so often, he could try to open them with the 1.2.1 balance, maybe it will be a huge success and more 1.2.1 will be opened :D

My opinions:

Deagles- nice change, hopefully it will get some arrention now.

MP5- not a good change, I think that it was almost perfect.

AK- This has gotta be the biggest mistake since the minigun. No comments

Steyr- not much of a change, support.

Spas- I think it was perfectly balanced. If the reloading bug is fixed then I support

Ruger- nice one

M79- I think that bink should be way bigger(almost like the barrets) without nerfing the speed and damage

Barret- one of the changes I'm most fond of(I would just suggest a -1 delay, thats all)

Minimi- good for enticing players for a more of a supporting role but not suitable for smaller maps so this change is in a way good but also bad.

Minigun- I think the +damage is not enough but this will do... for now

I don't. The AK changes are horrid to me.

Minigun is also not too good. Adding more damage will just increase minigun spraying.

Minimi changes are also not good in my oppinion. It was good I thought.

I hate it. I've used barret for two years because in my opinion, it is the only weapon that isn't pansy. It has the worst possible-kill/time ratio of ANY weapon, it has a start up time long enough that anyone above the mental age of 2 can eliminate half your health before you get your shot off if you don't anticipate their arrival and to top it off it has atrocious binc so that if they do get a few shots into you before the bullet slowly makes it's way to the end of your gun your little soldat waves his arm around like a lunatic at the very last minute to assure his impending demise. Having said that I use barret because it takes skill, I would now like to say: WTF! It is now impossible to hit while moving due to the ridiculous new acc. and your bullet drops a head or two before it reaches the other side of the screen, it's like using a ruger with a vibrator shoved up the barrel! I take it none of the beta testers were intending on using the barret ever and have just ruined it to spite the people who do. I'd be able to put up with the extra binc and the decreased speed, but the movement acc is retarded, are you trying to encourage people to hide in the bushes and snipe? Because you can't move and shoot with the barret any more.
