Binding things to multiple keys
« on: April 27, 2007, 02:33:20 am »
It's a bit late for suggestions I suppose, considering 1.4's release on Sunday is drawing near. However, I think everybody should at least take into consideration how totally awesome this particular one is.

I'd like to be able to bind a function in Soldat to two keys at once. For example, throwing my knife at people is hard for me with the F key because it impairs my ability to move right at the same time. In an attempt to fix this, being an avid knifer, I bound the "Drop Weapon" function to my middle mouse button, hoping it would allow for some more comfort in throwing knives. It did, but at a bit of a cost: I still pressed F whenever I wanted to drop my weapon, out of habit.

Mentally I had pretty much filed "Drop Weapon" and "Throw Knife" as separate functions, when in reality. So I had an idea: the ability to bound stuff to multiple keys.

For idiots who are going to be all "tl;dr lol" here's a poorly done pic of what I'm sayin'.

I probably could've condensed that into a few sentences but that's not my style. Styyyyleee. Staaayyyyyyyyyylle. Er, yeah.
Tell me what you think.

I like this. I play Dodgeball a lot, and throwing knives is kind of hard to do while trying to charge at the same time. (on Alpha, that is)

It's just like Battlefield. You can map a function to two buttons. Quite useful while sniping, because even that slight *click* can cause your mouse to move slightly off, costing you a bullet and ruining your perfect headshot.

I fully support.
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.
All-around good with weapons that aren't long range, except in TW.
Now be careful out there, soldier.

It's done in almost every other similar action game, why not in Soldat? I think it would be quite useful. Support.

Yeah that's what I said earlier in the post. It's still a good idea for 1.4.1, though

I certainly hope it isn't the final release! It couldn't be...

I just had a brilliant idea...

If you have a logitech mouse you can bind the buttons to certain keys, such as the throw key 'f', that way you can have both.

Or actually I think there are programs that will let you do similar things.

It would be nicer to have it built in though ^.^ (although it isn't high priority because you COULD just get used to your new keys like you should ;) )
