Oh? It takes a third of the mp5 clip to kill someone without armor.

How is that fast?

Or use grenades. Do you really want us to descibe everything, or will you make a promise to try harder? :|

*Sigh*

Does anyone have a link to DL 1.2.1?

I really need to play it, as I have played 1.2.0, but not 1.2.1.

You guys are missing the point a bit...

It's about creating a balanced game... not making insanely powered weapons that are easy to use.

Now stop being a load of fusspots.

Heck, if you really want to make soldat "faster" (by which some of you actually mean that weapons kill faster as apposed to a faster pace of gameplay) then edit your weapons.cfg and decrease the fire interval and go play with bots and leave us alone  :P

Killing faster would make the game faster.

But I digress.

With what in what mode?

The autos aren't necessarily hard to use, nor do they take much skill to kill someone, they take too much time and too many bullets.

Exactly.

And semis kill in fewer hits and don't use as much ammo, but they require time and skill.

Very much so. I just downloaded 1.2.1, and I think I'm playing it much more than 1.4.1.
Reason? Bink.

... What about the m79 and Barrett? They are even easier than the automatic weapons to kill with and since they deal such heavy damage with one shot they are the fastest to kill with.

The fact is that this arguement is pointless.... it's an arcade style game.

If the automatic weapons killed faster (by dealing more damage per shot) then balance would be lost... and every game would simply consist of hails of bullets going across the map and everyone constantly dying after being hit a minimal amount of times by sprayers.

I've played Soldat for almost 5 years now, and I've seen changes implemented and improvements made and the game has evolved into a fairer one.

I remember in v1.3.0 when there wasn't a startup delay on the barrett... and that virtually everyone used it, and every server was ripe with the words "barretard" or "barret n00b" and some servers had it disabled. After the delay was implemented that died down because it was essentially more difficult to use in that you had to keep your aim on the enemy during that short delay... or adjust your aim so that the bullet would hit after the delay.

the 1 hit weapons were nerfed, and everything is well balanced now. So just leave it.

Oh and mxyzptlk... enjoy playing with bots :s

Actually, I am.

The bots seem to be a lot more challenging.

the barrett? you have to stop moving to even get a chance at accuracy.

It is an arcade style game, the challenge shouldn't be in trying to pull the trigger.

The autos did kill well, it was balanced, I remember 1.2.1 killing barretts with the ak47, the balance would have been just peachy with just a few minor adjustments to compensate for the drop in barrett use.

I remember kicking soldier's ass so bad he would quit using barret because he couldn't get a shot off.

1.2.1 was very upfront, it was a lot of understanding the arc of the bullet and utilizing it to kill your enemy, now it is more of "w3ll if I clikk a lot then I can be 1337 and stp m0vig so i cn b pr0"

Oh, and just now, I played 1.2.1 online and for the first time since early 1.3.1 I had genuine fun

It might be true, a couple of weeks ago I downloaded Soldat 1.2.1 and played online in a server (there were 3 servers), just to see what everybody was talking about. I guess he did lie when he said "I had genuine fun" though.

Yes, there are still servers. Three, still.

And I was playing in one with bots and one guy, it was...

True fun.
