It's been discussed many, many times before and the best method we (as a community) have found is to add black bars to the sides so that the the resolution doesn't stretch the screen to make it nearly unplayable and doesn't give anyone an advantage or disadvantage.
I know what I'm talking about; you obviously didn't.

Please consider adding two very simple things :
1 . in the weapon menu add the option to choose no weapon, under the primary as well as secondary section. Unthinkable as it may sound but sometimes (such as knife fights) you dont want to take a weapon. I know how to manually do this but you can only do it at start of map.
2. (someone else's suggestion but still awesome) Add the ability to choose your helmet colour. PLEASE!!.

I like the helmet Idea, but post this in Suggestions/Improvements as well ;)

At the moment we are focusing on having the current announced features to be as stable and bug-free as possible, so please refrain from posting suggestions in this thread. Post them in the Game Improvements/Suggestions forum, I scour that forum daily for ideas.

And as for the Public Beta, its beginning soon, stay tuned to the forums. Once we have a Beta ready for public trial, it will most likely be posted here (Public Beta Reports/Discussion).

One thing I want to make VERY clear to everyone is this: A public beta is NOT intended to replace your existing Soldat 1.4.2 installation! So PLEASE do NOT overwrite your existing Soldat installation! And most of all, keep all reports or discussion regarding the beta to the appropriate forum (linked above) and use the Soldat Bug Tracker.

Thank you.

I think a good month is a fair waiting period for this. Please, everybody hold off on the 'OMGZ WHINZ IT CUMIN OWT?' for a while, when those whines become slightly more legitimate.

That message was probably in vain...

I really like the implementation of flag caps (next to players name) showing up in the scoreboard. I wonder if  'assists' were possible too. It sucks when you get a flag to the capture point but you die a few pixels away and the cap goes to someone else. You did all the hard work bringing the flag back to base. I'm sure if that is possible, it would be super tricky. If it is possible, then I'd say well worth considering for 1.6, 1.7, etc.

Assists is something I would like to fiddle around with adding, would be good, although I do believe that if you die with flag; bad luck try again next time :)

Well... I'm going to strongly disagree with the adding of assist though. It's the same thing about what I said about KSing.

"The reducer has no right to condemn the finisher, neither has the finisher have the right to boast, for both have played the important role, whether this is a team game or a Deathmatch."

You brought the flag to the base, but you died, too bad, your fault for failing to survive. Someone from your team will take the cap. But you can't blame him, for if he had not taken the flag for you and capped quickly instead of waiting for you to spawn and passing it to you, the flag might have been lost to the enemy. Though the guy deserves the cap, he does not have any right to boast because the main effort is not his. Both have played the important role, so there should be no argument, and team games is about the team, not about the individual. Bickering about little things like "you stole my kill/flag" is useless.

Back on topic:

Hmm, so there will be a public beta to be released sooner or later? Alright, that sounds good. If I have the time I would take part, but sadly this is the period of time when I'll be busy.

I would be interested in a PB, I would love to give feedback about the various changes, more feedback then just judging from screenshots/Text examples anyway...

Ya, we get to actually experience the change and give a much better judgment.

Especially when it comes to the new, reduced bullet push. We can't give a very good judgment about it, what we have now are only calculations and estimation, but not experience and evidence.

I agree with both EnEsCe and STM. If you die before you can cap -  too bad, so sad. I never get upset if someone gets my cap. I personally would like to see assists - more for strategy than boasting. If you know that player x can usually steal and bring a flag more than half way, it's nice to know that and if you have a smart team, it helps. I've had games where I've brought the flag back up to 8 times, only to have the enemy swarming my base and autoing me into oblivion on sight. That's my fault too, for jumping out into the open, desperately trying to score. :P

All i say about assists would be:

If you can implement them, thats great. If not, it isn't that important.

If it can be done without it getting in the way of the next version's progress then it'll make a good addition.
