IMHO it's easier to look at the shirt color then having to read the player name. Also when you want to shoot someone you look at the player not at his name which is another reason why your suggestion might make things more complicated.Imagine football players with nicknames in different colors above their head but random clothes - that looks weird to me.
On top of that there is a possibility that a player looks very similar to your teammate.
Well, if players are used to shooting anyone who isn't the same colour as themselves, changing the system so they have to rely on nametags to tell would bugger up their gamer intuition in regards to Soldat.
Plus, it would look messy and an eye sore in TDM matches.
don't forget the campers! you don't wanna have a huge banner saying HERE I AM! SHOOT ME! when you're waiting in the bushes for an ambush on the enemy team.
I have another suggestion. Ditch the name tags and most importantly, Ditch the coloured shirts.Add coloured body parts and stuff like that. These parts (maybe the helmet, arms and shins) will be coloured respectively to team colour, and while the UN-coloured areas will be YOUR personal colour.Think of it as your wearing team based geara quick example-YOUR colour- white/etc. TEAMcolour- red.
I have the best idea ever.Shut up.
I have the best idea ever.Go play DM and leave CTF alone.
I play team gamemodes 99% of the time and I really miss my dark-grey shirt and hat. ~ Tags above players.I'll call them "team indicators". Makes more sense, since they'd act exactly as player indicators, but for the whole team.I like this idea the most. I played CoD4 and I gotta say - team tags worked really well, despite the fact that it's hard to distinguish players by looking at the characters themselves. This could work on Soldat too if implemented properly. This would also help to see your hiding teammates. There were a lot of times when I saw someone's gun sticking out of the scenery, so I would start shooting and nading them only to find out they're on my team.
~This:Perhaps there could be a setting that would allow you to switch between "team-shirt" or "team-limbs" mode. However shirt stands out better, while limbs are a bit too small and might be harder to notice. It's hard to say without seeing it in action.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.
