Zabijaka.pl servers 5th year anniversary!

Today marks our 5th year being online 2009-12-12 14:10:43 being exact time of first server installation.

Many thanks to all the players, admins, helpers, supporters, haters, laggers, nabs, campers, spawners and whoever participated in this outstanding 2d game community. On a side note may i remind you certain servers are still active on a daily basis and you are more than welcome to hop in!

It feels soothing to write this all out once a year!

I have bad news. Biggest kiddo-admin Helloer came back to Soldat and Zabijaka's servers. He started giving bans for everything. You want to example?

Random player killed Helloer and wrote: "haha!"

Helloer: Shut up idiot
Random player: You are idiot
Helloer: ban

And banned this player on all Zabijaka's servers (ctf, dm, climb etc.)

Another example. No problem. Helloer join the server used login "Major". Then he writes in chat:

"This helloer is fucking dumb. I'm right?"

Player1: Yes
Player2: True, he is "kiddo-admin".

What happens now? Helloer banned Player1 and Player2.

Thank you so much Helloer for destruction Zabijaka's Server's in 2 months. You destroyed Bonecrusher work. Other Zabijaka's players were right. You are a kiddo-admin, not real admin.

IMO "don't disrespect admins" is generally a terrible rule. Admins shouldn't get special treatment. "No disrespect", period.

Even then, the definition of "disrespect" varies heavily from person to person. If they're so weak in character that they take every petty insult personally, and consistently unable to resolve conflicts in any other way except getting ban-happy - they shouldn't be an admin. Of course there's nothing stopping them, but it only adds toxicity to an already small playerbase.

So I hope what SneS is saying is false.

Of course players with administrative privileges can ban you at free will for any reason. It's always been that way.
In the end it's the server's hosters who declare the rules since they are offering the service for free. If "don't disrespect admins" is one of them rules, you better not push your luck.

Unfortunately that's not a joke. That guy banned people for totally absurd things and he has a very bad reputation on 'public' community of soldat [I mean the public servers of course]. You can ask other players from Poland. Anyway 'Zabijaka' it's his servers so that's his business.

This is a common problem in multiplayer games nowadays. Yes, technically it's the server owner's server, they're free to set whatever rules they want. Ultimately though, a game's purpose is to be as fun as possible. If a game allows admins to power-trip without repercussions - it creates a bad experience for the players, which is contrary to what the game was made for.

Only thing that can potentially improve this is the inclusion of additional Terms of Service to the game itself, that would add some guidelines to what is acceptable admin behavior and what isn't, as well as some way to reward the former and punish the latter. At the very least I think every server should have a "kick/ban log" viewable from the lobby by any player, as well as last X minutes of the chat log for each kick/ban, or maybe even an autodemo before the kick/ban.

I so much don't think such thing would ever be implemented to Soldat. What would be the punishment for "the bad admin"? His server being unlisted from lobby seems like the only possibility. Than he doesn't have host the server at all. He pays for it and he owns it.

The conclusion is that you shouldn't play where admin is kicking or banning for no reason. You have to find another server. Sadly, there's not much of choice recently. And that's the reason this problem popped up today instead of any year before.

The problem is that there isn't even a way to tell if a server is ran by badmins except by learning the hard way. If there was at least some kind of transparency - players would be better informed even if they don't have much choice. At least they'll have an idea of what they're getting into. I agree, an ideal system would be too much work, but perhaps something basic could still be added someday.
