Thanks.
I'll probably make a new thread here, at aussoldat.com and numerous other places with the idea, and a list of things which are needed to see how much support we get and if we can get people to do the required things.
I'd help when I get back from my holiday (about 3 weeks)...Although I don't know how much free time I'll have....
But hit me up if your needing help :)

I don't think Australians have their own gather but I think you guys are better off playing sna gather rather than euro gather. Your pings should be much better there, around 200.

Oh and everyone should join #soldat.gather. You can't really find a better place to play Soldat if you want to play with good players. That is if you don't play clan wars.

I know that there are a few retards in #soldat.gather who insult people and think they are hot shit but just don't mind them. #soldat.gather is for everyone and I'm sure many of us would like to see some new players there. There are a lot of nice people on IRC and I'm sure you can make some new friends if you stick around.

Nice to know there's gather I can play on for the moment, even if it is with 250 ping.

? i'm still not exactly sure what the difference between a gather and a normal soldat room is.... is it a service that matches random players up into full matches instead of half full rooms? or is it a service only for people in clans?

Except that you play with better players...not some random newbie in a public.
And you see less of the hackers, and newbies ;)

it sounds like its main protection from hackers and noobs comes from this being inconvenient enough that they won't do it.

tbh I think the bulk of established Australian players won't go for a gather thing.  That's probably why this thread never went anywhere further.  Most of us just use msn and ask someone for a war either over that on in-game.  Even if they can't get that they can easily book a GameArena server and get some random guys together and play a game.

If you're new(ish) to soldat and live in Aus, my advice to you if you want to be part of the community is to play in GA servers (since they are practically all any of us use), join a clan and actually get around WARRING others actively, even if you get beaten most of the time; as playing people allows everyone to get to know each other.

Getting a war to happen is as simple as asking someone in-server for a war, booking a server from www.gamearena.com.au for soldat and telling them the details to join.
