Global Warming
« on: December 31, 2006, 01:36:03 am »
What are your thoughts on this stuff...
I just watched that movie, "An Inconvenient Truth".  It scared the crap out of me.
I'm like seriously considering putting up some posters of some shit in my school.

Some facts:  (from 1st link)
 ● The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
 ● Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.
 ● The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.
 ● At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences.

 ● Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.
 ● Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
 ● Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.
 ● Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.
 ● The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.
 ● More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

----------
This shit is all politically charged.  It's pathetic that all the people running in parliament just care about goddamn money.  We as the people have to take charge.  Take a look at Bush, and you tell me if you think that a Texan who charges into a country, and plunders its oil, is going to try and solve this.

I'm going to be putting up some posters in my school about this matter, and I joined the Virtual March...  I'm going to also use some of the tips they put on the site.

What do you all think.  I think that this is real, shockingly real, and I personally am going to take an initiative.

George Bush screwed up the Earth's climate. This year we have the warmest winter in Poland ever. No more snowy Christmas. Thank you USA - the biggest polluter in the world!

Oh yea, it's all Bush...yup, just part of his master plan to kill all humans.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

Did you actually rationalise that the source of global warming is Bush, or did you just make it up because you're a typical European whinger who hates Bush for seemingly no reason?

Then again, it seems that carbon dioxide emissions rose sharply after the 1950s... maybe he caused these emissions merely by existing. Or it could have been caused by people other than Bush, starting with the Industrial Revolution. By the same logic, you should blame Tony Blair, because the Industrial revolution started in Britain, and the EU and China for being second and third highest sources of CO2 emissions - the USA alone emits less than the EU and China combined.

Yeah, Bush is most likely part of these problems.

But here's some good news, only around another year of that bastard being president, after that he will be unable to fuck up as much stuff.

I watch the science channel a lot and have known for a while that this planet is and always will be, eternally fucked up.
Either global warming, the moon crashing into it, or the sun blowing up, will kill us all for sure.

Just try to ignore the plain sad hard facts and live your life in whatever happy way you can, as whatever you do, it won't be enough to stop the inevitable.
There are other worlds than these

I know that...

I was hoping for Aliens, that are hostile you know, like in Halo, or Predator, or ...Aliens.

And then maybe once humanity sees that we are not the biggest threat to each other, we will stop having all these stupid ass wars, and killing each other. 8)
