Yet another Direct X error....
« on: May 30, 2009, 06:52:11 pm »
So.

I've been playing Soldat for about 3 years now, took a long break and proceeded to download 1.5

Then I get this Direct X 8 error nonsense, telling me I need 8.1 or higher to play Soldat.

But I have Direct X 10.

Then immediately after this error, I get the "Access Violation at address 0055411E in module 'Soldat.exe', Read of address 0000000000" error.

"For Windows NT/2000/XP: Delete the file cmodule.dll in the 'Windows\system32' folder. *"

Did this, no difference.

"Delete the file dxlog.chk in the 'Windows' folder"

I can't find any such file anywhere.

I've already tried adjusting the screen resolution and such. Can anyone help me here, or tell me why Soldat is suddenly doing this to me? Never had this kind of problem before.

I'm running vista by the way

Also, the friendly error message suggest i try running Soldat in compatability mode. What is this again and how do I do this? If it is "Video compatability" in the setup, I've already checked that off and it still won't work.

Also, this is basically the same problem as outlined in this thread. http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=33941.0

Obviously when you're using vista NT/2000/XP solutions won't work

Vista doesn't have that file

Right-click> Properties> Compatibility Tab> Checkbox ;)

I had this too, you should always run soldat with admin right son vista (same tab)
When this doesn't work the only thing I can think of is reinstalling.

Did it. Also have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I checked admin and always running that. I tried compatability with XP, 2000, 2003, etc. Still the same error.

This is bizzare. I've never had this error until 1.5

I tried installing 1.4.2 instead, and now I'm only getting the Directx 8 error instead of the other big one.

this is confusing!  >:(

I've had this problem before.

I just restart my computer. I think it's your virus protection that is getting in the way.

I've restarted several times, to no avail.

Interestingly enough: In setup, when I uncheck "fullscreen" it starts perfectly fine. The only problem is, now soldat takes up 1/4 of the screen it normally does. When I change the "Windowed Mode Resize" settings, from 0 to 100, it takes up a lot more of the screen but it is extremely pixelated and grainy...and unpleasant to play.

IS there anyway I can uncheck fullscreen, start the game, and then get back into fullscreen while I'm playing?

I just saw I had some neglected updates from a while back.

One was for graphics, cheers. Problem solved.
