Infinity: Quest for Earth
« on: May 02, 2010, 03:07:34 am »
I know some of you have heard of it, but in case you've forgotten, check out a video he uploaded yesterday.

It's been a long time since he started and it's all just beginning to come into fruition.  Hopefully an alpha will be released soon.

This looks brilliant! I was a huge fan of Eve back in the day, but I always thought it lacked the feel of reality in it.. the 2d planets, the no-clip'ish space stations. This seems rock solid though! I'm definitely having a go at this once it's out.

Nice find, brudda.
I fucking miss all you cunts!

I like this. This has less of an MMO feel to it.

Edit:

Never mind this comment. I don't play current MMO's anyway.

That's because you have not seen the actual gameplay yet. I'm talking about PvE and PvP that will necessarily be added.

It's very nice!

It seems amusing, I played the battle prototype some time ago and I like the fact that controls are of an actual space sim. So you will actually put your gaming skills to use instead of just your level and stats.

I don't normally like MMOs because gameplay there is repetitive, controls are too rts-like and the winners are usually those who put the most time and money into the game. I really hope this game will be different.

off-topic: what does PvE mean?

Yeah, it's pretty amazing.  Not only can you seamlessly fly into any planet you want, but you will be able to colonize and set up factories, mining operations and so on.  Not to mention the pirates that will pop up and large scale wars that will likely happen.  Check out his galaxy generation page: http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=106&Itemid=26

The fact that there will be around 100-200 billion systems (explorable planets, all unique) means you couldn't even explore every planet in the game in your entire life, even if you spent 1 second at each.

Thanks for the info. However it seems that most players are EVE nerds, so "Corporation vs Corporation" got the most votes on their site. Lonewolves like me don't live long in such games. :S

But damn, I want that game just for the incredibly beautiful planets...

The 88 Flak mod for Freelancer is sexy. This is above that.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

Looks really nice! Nice find man.

Will it be free? Or will be like EVE online?
And well I think some of you compared it to EVE but, isn't EVE more strategy based?

It will cost money eventually, but I don't believe they've come up with a pricing model.  Still debating whether or not it will be pay to play or a one time buy I from what I recall.  I hope it's the latter.

Many people were constantly speculating it would be; this video helped refresh things a little.  It still has a long way to go though, so I hope the same.

Thanks meep

I played it months ago and unfortunately I can't remember how I got it to work.  Sorry, but your best shot would be to browse or post in their forums.

Edit: Actually, the 3 or 4 servers that are listed appear to be down at the moment.
