Ok we all know new weapons will unbalance the game but what if it was possible to add your own so that for YOU and YOUR sever alone NOT THE WHOLE COMMUNITY OR EVERY SERVER could have a variety of more interesting and diverse weaponry using the already existing soldat statistics. In my opinion it would be hug;ey popular people could still use the old weapons and have new one to mess around with. Think of all the possible new game modes that could come from this. Climbing weapons, specific guns that do things, like shoot a spawn point(Translocator UT series) Spawn a bot maybe, give out health and ammo, the possibility is endless RUBBER BULLETS OMFG ROFL.

It would be good, it would be fun.

(PS if an admin can add a poll for yes or no would be good, I forgot lol.)

Use mods and weapons editing. It's basically the same thing and creating a program for it would take time and effort. f11

But I'm not saying to change the ones already there, I'm saying to give an option to add your own, as extra. I thought i made that clear. If not a program then you tell me how this is possible.

I don't really know what to say besides a drawn out no with the tone raised at the end. Pretty much just nooo?
Many of your ideas can be partially scripted too, or done with a mod (a command to move a spawnpoint, etc)

Simply get LandWarrior v2.1 or Soldat Enhanced, use the new WM for your own server and have fun ... :)

Your missing the point, all of you. If MM added the set guns with stuff in the source then surely its possible to make a mod that puts extra blank slots for guns ASWELL AS THE OLD ONES!

Soldat Enhanced is just a better looking version of the game. Wtf does that have to do with this?
Not sure about the land warrior thing. The rugger tele-to-spawn mod does do one of my ideas BUT AT THE COST OF A GUN. This is the whole point. Make it possible to add more guns to do what you want with them.

All fo you 'suggestions' are just telling me to do stuff that I already know about and dont want to. I have my own balanced weapon mod i dont need more of them, i dont need more scripts, I need to be able to ADD MORE GUNS not replace others which is all your telling me to DO!

I don't think that's even possible and if it is, it wouldn't really be worth the effort I guess.

I'm not sure if it's really worth the time atm, theres more important things like bug fixing which should be fixed first.

The Don't-Suggest List
NEW WEAPONS This would invite even more weapon-balance issues, disrupt Soldat's file layout, mess up functionality of old mods, etc. Besides, you can already edit weapons.ini ;)

New map features: weapon spawns, animated graphics in maps, power-ups, improvements in bot-behavior/waypoints, etc. (Marcinkowski himself declared that just about any suggestions regarding new map features will be ignored unless he specifically announces that the map format shall be changed, which he most likely shall not anymore due to the time-absorbing Link-Dead project)

Destructible terrain, liquids, VEHICLES, mobile polygons (these would require a gigantic map format change as already covered above, they would be huge changes to gameplay which would disgust many players, even more glitches would result from them, etc.)

An account system, a Counter-Strike style money system, soldier classes, alternate weapon functions, death from existing wounds, a level-like experience system (None of these will ever be implemented because any would forever ruin the arcadey, nostalgic simplicity of Soldat which makes it so popular, aside from the massive coding time)

Climbing as an official gamemode (just too much of a hassle, really, and doesn't count as a true Soldat gamemode for violence-loving masses ;))

Genders, explosive weapons (Uh... hello? :P Kinda obvious why, eh?)

Any kind of advanced anti-hack system, like VAC or PB (Michal doesn't have the money nor the time to implement any of these systems) Helloooo BattlEye!

Soldat will never be programmed for portable consoles/machines, or probably even regular gaming consoles (Michal doesn't have the money nor the time to do so, and even then gameplay probably would flop on such systems. Although if you want to use Soldat on Linux, feel free to help with the Soldat Wine project.)

Dynamic weapon limitation (that is, # of a particular weapon limited on a server based on how many are using the weapon, etc.); this is in the latest server version, and is possible through scripting.

Limited Ammo, since it's allready been suggested Here, Here and Here.


Public Demands
A suggestion shall be considered a public demand if all the comments on a suggestion are 90% or higher in support, and any possible negative effects of it are not majorly glitch-inviting or heavily gameplay-modifying other than the idea itself; common sense shall dictate, obviously

Kit Parachutes; Keron Cyst (GrenadeKits, MediKits, and bonuses drift down on parachutes if spawning from a high altitude, like soldaten)

Blood Stains; Rambo_6 (client-side graphical option to allow gore to temporarily tinge terrain)

(If Soldat's map format will ever be changed) Explosive Polygon Type; † (like Deadly polygon, but soldat instead explodes upon impact, such as to simulate minefields)

Animated Spawn Spark; GAMEOVER (allow frames for animation for the spark effect which accompanies player respawns and flag-caps)

RamboMatch; Unlucky XIII (graphic notifier of Rambo's death in kill list)

Allow spectators to retain score; bja888 (so players can quickly take a piss, help with groceries, etc. and come back with their score still being safely held during a match)


Allow folder ..\Soldat\Weapons-gfx\BravoWeapons-gfx\, etc.; RabidTreeFrog (Allow Bravo and Delta teams to have differing weapons from Alpha and Charlie teams regarding weapons, their sounds, and weapon-menu text)

Client-side dynamic effects; popsofctown (have different music and/or sounds occur upon events such as flag-capture, switch to more dramatic graphics or modded skins upon accumulative kills, etc.)

Randomize checkbox for maplist; Keron Cyst (along with Loop, put a Randomize checkbox to shuffle the order of a server's maps)

/settaunt; DePhille (be able to change, save, and load taunts in-game via commands)

Nade explosion time; LeetFidle (being able to change the explosion time for nades)

Seeing votes in admin console & logs; xmRipper (Allowing the admin to see map- or kickvotes in the console and logs.

800x600 Default Soldat Resolution; ElephantHunter

Minigun rotation; Espadon

Chat Suggestion; STM1993

Extra mouse button recognition; SadistAtHeart (Making ay additional mouse button available for actions such as 'drop')

Flag Throwing; homerofgods (The ability to throw the flag as you please despite reloading) - This seems more like a bug than anything, but PM me if you disagree. - SadistAtHeart

Filter Improvement; warchild (The ability to exclude "realistic" and more from the server filter)

Fireinterval - Decimal Places; Skskav/8th_Account, resuggested by STM1993 (Suggesting that ticks be measured in miliseconds)

Scenery Verification; MetalWarrior - to prevent replacing scenery with transparent ones by unfair players,

better display of server list; Gotfryd - in higher resolutions window with servers list (in "join game" tab) should be maximized.

Revamp of Current Weapons system; Peemonkey

Team indicators for kill console; Atomic Hype

Overtime / Last Chance; Snake

Client-server mod compatibility; Gotfryd


Specific Map Ambience; Gnoblar - The option to add a specific soundfile to any specific map, in order to have said file played throughout that map ingame.

Lobby Search Bar; Scarface09 - Enables you to seach for any map or server in the lobby.

Nade Detonation; L[0ne]R - Granades will no longer detonate on impact, but rather after a certain time limit.

Additional crouch advantage; a-4-year-old - Crouch advantage, 1.5 times faster reload

INF teamplay suggestion; tendulker - Dynamic teamswitch after every map(inf suggestion)

Weapondraw feature; Gotfryd - ability to drop your weapon and draw your sidearm at the same time.

Too bad, because I really think you should've said more. What exactly from this "do not suggest list" applies to this topic? Because I don't see anything that does.


Back on topic though - I really don't think it's worth it. There already is enough weapons by default, having more will only overcomplicate Soldat. IMO an ability to edit existing weapons is more than enough, expecially considering the flexibility of weapons.ini + great scripting possibilities.

Isn't this kinda like the sandbox mod?
